Steadfastness on the Religion in the Face of Trials
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What are the factors that help one remain steadfast on the religion in our present time, amidst the trials that surge through the Muslim community?
Answer:
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, upon his family and all his Companions. The factors that lead to steadfastness on the religion are: First: learning beneficial knowledge, learning the creed and the principles of the creed, then looking into the hadiths about trials and what happens in the end times, and what is obligatory for a person at that time. Then, staying away from trials, staying away from the places of trials and the people of trials, and being cautious of those who promote them and call to them, the callers at the gates of Hell, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described them; whoever obeys them will be thrown into it. Then, supplication, and this is the most important thing: supplication. Supplicating to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to keep the Muslim steadfast, and increasing supplication for steadfastness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Turner of hearts, make my heart steadfast upon Your religion.” And Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: “And keep me and my descendants from worshipping idols. My Lord, indeed they have led much of mankind astray.” And Yusuf (peace be upon him), when he supplicated to his Lord in the last of his life, said: “Cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.” And one should increase in supplication, keep the company of scholars, people of insight, and people of good, and stay away from the means of trials. Stay away from them and do not look at them, because they bring him evil. Likewise, do not listen to the channels that call to trials, in which the people of evil cast their doubts and deceptions. Preserving these matters protects one. If a person acts upon these matters, then Allah (Exalted and Majestic) will protect him from trials, because he has done the causes, and success is in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
