Assessment of the book (You Ask and Islam Answers)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This book is widely available in the markets among many young people. The title of this book is "You Ask and Islam Answers," written by Muhammad Mutawalli al-Sha'rawi. What is the validity of this book, or its lack thereof?

Answer:
We have looked into it, and it contains good answers, but it contains an error regarding the claim that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was created from light, and that he was created from the light of Allah. This is an error; he based it on a fabricated, false hadith that has no basis. So he erred in this—may Allah forgive us and him—and it must be pointed out—may Allah will it. I looked into it a few days ago because some people may err in this, and some preachers and some people speak about this, saying: Muhammad was created from the light of Allah, and some say: he was created from the light of the Throne. All of this is false, having no basis; it is all false. Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was created from the water of his father and mother, like the rest of people. He was created from the water of 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib and from the water of Aminah. So Allah created him as He created the rest of mankind, as the Exalted said:
Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealedقُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ
[al-Kahf:110]. He was created as all the sons of Adam were created
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and femaleيَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَأُنْثَى
[al-Hujurat:13], except Adam, whom Allah created from clay, and except 'Isa, whom Allah created from a female without a male, and the rest from a male and a female.
He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
(7) Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay. (8) Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained.
[al-Sajdah:7-8]. So the offspring of Adam are all from lowly water, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the rest of the messengers are all from the offspring of Adam (peace and blessings be upon him). This is the truth in which there is no doubt. As for what is narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said: "The Prophet was created from the light of Allah," this is a false report, having no basis. Rather, it is a lie attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and has no validity. It should be known and kept in mind, because this is one of the errors that have spread on the tongues of some people—we ask Allah for safety—who want to elevate the status of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah has elevated him without their lying. Allah has elevated him and raised his status, making him the best of mankind and the best of the servants of Allah, and there is no need for lying.
