Question:
The sister: Amina Ashili from Latakia in Syria sent a long letter full of praise, appreciation, and love for His Eminence the Shaykh, and her letter ends with a question in which she says: What is your opinion, Your Eminence, of the book *Sifat Salat al-Nabi* (The Description of the Prophet’s Prayer) by the Shaykh: Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani?

Answer:
This is a good and beneficial book, and the Shaykh: Nasir al-Din al-Albani is a distinguished and virtuous scholar, and he has great independent legal reasoning in reviving the Sunnah and distinguishing the authentic from the weak. So he is to be thanked for his efforts; may Allah reward him with good and multiply his reward. Everyone may make a mistake; no scholar is infallible from error. Some errors and mistakes may occur in some of his works, and likewise for other scholars who are greater than him, some errors may occur. Among the errors that occurred in *Sifat Salat al-Nabi* (The Description of the Prophet’s Prayer) is his statement that a person, after rising from the bowing, lets his hands hang down. This is an error, and the correct ruling is that he places them on his chest as he did before the bowing; because this is what is preserved in the authentic hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
That he used to place his right hand over his left hand while standing in prayerأنه كان إذا صلى وضع يمينه على شماله حال قيامه في الصلاة
This covers both before the bowing and after the bowing. Likewise, the hadith of Sahl ibn Sa’d from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
We were commanded that a man should place his right hand over his left arm in prayerكنا نؤمر أن يضع الرجل يده اليمنى على ذراعه اليسرى في الصلاة
.
It is known that in prayer, during the bowing, he places his hands on his knees, and during the prostration on the ground, and during the sitting on his thighs or his knees. What remains is the state of standing, and in the state of standing, he places his right hand over his left hand, on the palm, the wrist, and the forearm, and the forearm is the arm.
This is what is taken against the author, may Allah guide him. And as mentioned before, everyone makes some slips. The man is to be thanked for his good deeds, his good efforts, and his care for the Sunnah. So may Allah reward him with good, and increase us, you, and him in good and guidance. Yes.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
