I heard some of the brothers say that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was created from light and that Adam was created from the light of Muhammad. Is this statement correct?

The questioner : I heard some of the brothers say: that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), in their statement, was created from light and that Adam was created from the light of Muhammad. Is this statement correct?

The Shaykh : This statement is one of the most false falsehoods. It is a lie that contradicts the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another
[Al-Hujurat 49:13]
and His saying the Exalted:
(12) And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. (13) Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:12-13]
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is from the descendants of Adam, and he is the master of the children of Adam. He was created from the semen of his father, and his father was created from the semen of his grandfather, and so on until creation reaches Adam, whom Allah created from a lineage of clay.
And it is amazing that these people who bring these lies to exalt the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) are some of those who are negligent in their religion and in following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Perhaps they are unaware that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbade exaggeration regarding him and warned against it. My advice to these people is to take their beliefs from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and to know that Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is a human being like us, as Allah commanded him to say that and declare it openly:
Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
He (peace and blessings be upon him) was distinguished by revelation, by the noble character Allah instilled in him, and by being the most God-fearing of people and the most devoted in worship to Allah, but he is a human being. He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) knew best that he is a human being like us who forgets just as we forget, so he said:
but I am a human being like you and liable to forget like you. So if I forget remind me إنما أنا بشر مثلكم أنسى كما تنسون، فإذا نسيت فذكّروني
Sahih al-Bukhari 401
Look at the great humility; he informed that he is a human who forgets, and yet he said:
So when I forget, remind me إذا نسيت فذكّروني
and that did not diminish his status in any way. Rather, he is the most perfect of creation in faith, God-consciousness, asceticism, and character, peace and blessings be upon him. Whoever wants to be gathered under his banner on the Day of Resurrection, let him be under the banner of his Sunnah in this world, and let him not transgress the limits of Allah nor fall short of them. There is no exaggeration and no negligence. This is our duty. And Allah Blessed and Exalted said to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you قلْ إن كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ
[Ali 'Imran 3:31]
As for one who claims to be a follower of the Messenger and a lover of the Messenger, while saying about the Messenger what is not the truth and innovating in his religion what he did not legislate, then the proof contradicts his claim. Yes.
