On those who cast aspersions on Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
May Allah preserve you. One of the preachers in this country appeared on one of the satellite channels, speaking about those who cast aspersions on Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said that al-Hasan ibn 'Ali is better than one who filled the earth with good, better than Mu'awiyah. Another said that the Umayyads and the Abbasids are the cause of what we are living through today. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Umayyads and the Abbasids took charge of the affairs of the Muslims and, in general, reformed them. Although some of them made mistakes, in general they fought in the path of Allah, spread Islam, carried out the conquests, and preserved the Islamic state. Praise be to Allah, much good came about through their hands. As for Mu'awiyah, he is a noble Companion with his status and position. He is among the Companions about whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not revile my Companions." It is not permissible to revile Mu'awiyah because he is a Companion. No one disputes that Mu'awiyah is among the Companions. Therefore, it is not permissible to revile him or belittle him. This is from one aspect. The second aspect is that only good is known of Mu'awiyah's actions: he united the word, stood against the misguided sects, and blocked their path. For this reason, the year of his pledge of allegiance was called the Year of the Community, because Allah united the Muslims through him and blocked the path of the people of evil and misguidance. He governed the Muslims with wise and just policy. May Allah the Exalted be pleased with him and grant him satisfaction. Al-Hasan has a great virtue, without doubt, being the master of the young men of Paradise. Al-Hasan is the one who yielded the caliphate to Mu'awiyah. Did al-Hasan err in this? This speaker is erring regarding al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet praised him in this situation, saying: "My son here is a master, and Allah will reconcile through him two great groups of the Muslims." So the Prophet praised his position of yielding to Mu'awiyah to unite the word and spare the blood of the Muslims. Much good came about from that, praise be to Allah. This is among the virtues of al-Hasan (may Allah the Exalted be pleased with him). Yes.
