How to Memorize Scientific Texts with Their Explanations

Question:
How do I memorize scientific texts with their explanations? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
It is not a method of learning to memorize texts without a teacher. You must memorize them under a teacher who explains them to you and clarifies them for you. As for memorizing texts on your own without a teacher, and memorizing their explanations, that is not sufficient. It is toil without benefit and hardship without benefit, and it may even be harmful, because you may think that you have become a scholar through this method, or you may issue rulings, declaring things lawful or forbidden, while you are ignorant and misunderstand these texts or these explanations without realizing it. Therefore, you must sit with the people of knowledge and read these texts, whether by memorization or review, and you must have them explain and clarify them to you so that you understand them. This is the method of seeking knowledge.
