Question:
Regarding the exegesis of the last verse in Surat al-Naml, in the statement of the Truthful One (Blessed and Exalted is He), I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan: (And say, “All praise is for Allah. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them, and your Lord is not unaware of what you do”)
Answer:
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) concluded Surat al-Naml with His statement (Glorified and Exalted is He): (And say, “All praise is for Allah. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them, and your Lord is not unaware of what you do”). Allah says to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (And say, “All praise is for Allah”), because He is deserving of praise first and last, outwardly and inwardly. His is the praise in this world and the Hereafter, and He is the Wise, the All-Aware. (He will show you His signs): This is a warning to the disbelievers. (He will show you His signs) in the universe, and in the punishments that occur in it, and in the changes that occur in it. (And you will recognize them): You will recognize the signs of Allah after Allah shows them to you. Perhaps this will be at a time when knowledge is of no benefit, when the punishment descends. Then the disbelievers will believe. (But when they saw Our punishment, they said, “We believe in Allah alone and we disbelieve in what we used to associate with Him.” But their faith was of no avail to them when they saw [Our punishment]). Faith is only beneficial before the descent of punishment and the manifestation of the cosmic signs. As for when the punishment descends, faith is of no benefit. (He will show you His signs): This is as if it is a warning from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). (And you will recognize them, and your Lord is not unaware of what you do): Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) is not unaware of what the wrongdoers do, as He said (Exalted and Majestic is He): (And do not think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when the eyes will stare in awe). (He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them, and your Lord is not unaware of what you do): Of what you do of disbelief and sins, and of the disobedience of the Prophets. But He (Glorified and Exalted is He) grants respite but does not neglect. So this is from the category of warning for the people of disbelief and tyranny.
