'Umrah on behalf of a deceased person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner: If a man wants to perform 'Umrah on behalf of his deceased father, and he has already performed 'Umrah for himself, what is the difference between the two—O Shaykh—and is he rewarded for doing so?

Answer:
The Shaykh: Yes, he performs 'Umrah on behalf of his deceased father, just as he performed it for himself, and he dedicates its reward to him. It benefits him—by Allah's permission—it benefits the father. It is one of the deeds that can be performed on behalf of another, where representation is permissible, and praise be to Allah, for both the living and the dead.
