'Umrah on behalf of a deceased person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Regarding 'Umrah; is it permissible to perform 'Umrah on behalf of another person if my father died and did not perform 'Umrah, and I am in a distant country?

Answer:
Answer: Yes, you may perform 'Umrah on behalf of your father. This is a form of dutifulness to him. If he bequeathed that 'Umrah be performed on his behalf, the bequest must be carried out by paying from his estate the cost of the 'Umrah to the person who will perform it on his behalf. If he did not make such a bequest, this is still a matter of dutifulness, especially if he did not perform the 'Umrah of Islam. In that case, the 'Umrah of Islam is performed on his behalf. Any 'Umrah other than the 'Umrah of Islam is voluntary, and it carries a great reward. So if one wishes to perform 'Umrah on behalf of his father as a voluntary act, that is an act of dutifulness and kindness toward him.
