The Ruling on Sympathizing with the People of Misguided Ideas?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Despite the danger of what the people of misguided thought are doing, it is a pity that there are still those who sympathize with them on the pretext of violations committed by some officials. What is your guidance, O your Eminence?

Answer:
The violations of some officials do not permit us to rebel against them or to withdraw our obedience from them, as long as they establish the prayer, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when mentioning the violations that rulers might commit. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we not fight them?" He said, "No, as long as they establish the prayer among you." Therefore, it is not permissible to rebel against them or to break the bond of obedience because of the shortcomings and negligence that occur from them, unless they go out of Islam. This is because remaining obedient to them and uniting the word brings benefits, while rebelling against them brings harms greater than enduring them. There is no doubt that repelling the greater of two harms by committing the lesser of them is a legal principle: committing the lesser of two harms to avert the greater harm. Their sins harm themselves, whereas uniting against them is in the interest of the Muslims. Yes.
