The Prayer for a Partial Eclipse That Is Not Visible to the Naked Eye
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
May Allah guide you, O esteemed Shaykh: Is the eclipse prayer performed if the eclipse is partial and not visible to the naked eye?
Answer:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says to us: "When you see that of them." As for mere speculation, or that we answer by using magnifiers for viewing, that is an excessive effort that Allah and His Messenger have not commanded. If it appears to us and we see it, we pray as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded. If it does not appear, we do not rely on the statement of the calculator, nor on going out and using magnifying telescopes or the like; that is excessive effort and affectation.
