The ruling on forming the intention for fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q301: For one who intends to fast the blessed month of Ramadan, is the intention obligatory?
A301: The intention is required in all acts of worship; no act of worship is valid without the intention, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.إنما الأعمال بالنيات، وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
. Therefore, no act of worship is valid without the intention. However, the intention is not to be verbalized; it is to be kept secret in the heart, between the servant and his Lord.
