The Ruling on Group I'tikaf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q576: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on group i'tikaf?
A576: This is not permissible: group i'tikaf, group fasting, and group tahajjud, other than the tahajjud of Ramadan. This is not permissible, like what some of the young people do, where each one performs i'tikaf on his own, or performs tahajjud on his own, or fasts on his own, or breaks his fast on his own. This association with a group, all of this is from
the newly invented matters. Every newly invented matter is a religious innovation (bid'ah). The Muslim does good and does not associate himself with others. He does good on his own, as is facilitated for him, and does not associate with others or with a group.
