The ruling on performing only the odd-numbered counts of acts that have a specific number

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q297: The questioner says: I saw a person who performs most acts that have a number with an odd number, and he says: That is from the Sunnah, and this is better than the even number. Does this have a basis in the pure Sunnah?
A297: This has no basis in the pure Sunnah, nor in the Shari'ah; because acts of worship include what is even and what is odd. The Fajr prayer is even, and the 'Isha' prayer and the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers, these are even. As for the Maghrib prayer, it is odd. Likewise, the witr after the 'Isha' prayer, which is among the most emphasized recommended practices, this witr. So acts of worship include what is even and what is odd. A person performs every act of worship as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has prescribed: if it is even, he performs it as even, and if it is odd, he performs it as odd. Perhaps he does not intend only acts of worship; perhaps he intends even in his dealings with himself, or in eating or drinking.
