One who completed the month of Ramadan in one country, then traveled to another country where he found its people fasting

Fatwa number ( 15626 )
Q: A person traveled to a country, having completed his fasting in his own country for (30) thirty days. Upon arriving at the country he intended to visit, he found the people fasting, so he fasted with them. He then woke up having fasted (31 days). In this year, it became clear to him that the people of the aforementioned country fasted on Friday, while we had started on Wednesday. So, if the man completes his fasting in his own country and breaks his fast by sighting the crescent, or completes Ramadan
for thirty days and arrives at the country he traveled to, and learns that the people will not break their fast until two days after the date of his arrival, should he fast with them, adding two days to what he has already fasted, or should he stop fasting on the basis that the month of Ramadan does not exceed thirty days? We ask your Eminence to issue a fatwa.
A: One who completes the fasting of the month of Ramadan in a country and breaks his fast with them, and the breaking of the fast is based on a legal ruling, then travels to another country and finds that they have not broken their fast due to the delay in the start of the month in their view, should continue to break his fast and not fast with them; because his ruling in this case is the ruling of the country he came from, where his breaking of the fast was based on a legal ruling. However, he should not display his breaking of the fast in front of them out of fear of causing fitnah (trial/discord). And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
