The Ruling on the Excused Person in Ritual Purity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q11: The questioner, A. M. A., says: I am a person whom Allah has afflicted with the disease of incontinence for four years, and praise be to Allah. This incontinence is in the lower half of the body, from the beginning of the abdomen to the bottom of the feet. Therefore, what comes out from the two passages exits without my knowledge or will. The question here is in prayer: how do I pray? For if I pray, that may come out of me and I am not aware of it? Especially since there are devices attached to external passages through which I relieve myself, and they are attached to my body, and what comes out may exit from them without my feeling or sensing it. And I have never previously read about this condition that I mentioned. So, is my prayer valid or not?

A11: We ask Allah for your healing and well-being from what has befallen you. As for what you asked about regarding the ruling on prayer while what comes out from one of the two passages exits, and you do not feel it and cannot hold it back, your prayer is valid. This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are able and listen and obey and spend [in the way of Allah]; it is better for your selves. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
, and His saying:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
, and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
So when I command you to do anything, do it as much as it lies in your powerفإذا أمرتكم بشيء فأتوا منه ما استطعتم
Sahih Muslim 1337
This is the limit of your ability. However, you must not perform ablution except at the time of prayer. When you intend to perform the prayer after the time has entered, you perform ablution and then pray immediately, and you complete your prayer. Even if what comes out exits from you, you cannot do more than that. And Allah the Exalted knows best.
