The Book of Purification
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then the author said, "The Book of Purification". The authors, may Allah have mercy on them, the jurists and hadith scholars who organize their books according to the chapters of jurisprudence, began with purification for two reasons:
The first reason is that purification is among the most emphatic conditions of the prayer, as Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:6] and as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 60Sahih (Al-Albani).
The second reason is that purification is a preparation, because it is the cleaning of the place, so it is a preparation. And preparation, as it is said, comes before adornment. Sweep the house first, then lay the carpets second. Clean the vessels of impurity first, then wash them second. Therefore, they began with the Book of Purification.
Then know that purification is of two types: spiritual purification and physical purification. The discussion of the jurists, may Allah have mercy on them, is about physical purification. As for their discussion when they speak of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and beliefs, purification for them is of the spiritual purification, which is the foundation. It is the purification of the heart from shirk (associating partners with Allah), doubt, hypocrisy, resentment, hatred, envy, and other such blameworthy traits. This is more important than physical purification. However, a person needs both types of purification. We will stop here because the time for questions has arrived. Regarding the age of maturity, if Allah wills, we have decided to encourage whoever wants to memorize it to do so, because Ibn Hajar, may Allah have mercy on him, pointed to that. So I encourage the person who is able to memorize it to memorize it, because it is a beneficial book. And our lesson, as you know, we do not take too much so that he does not say, "It tired me if I had memorized it." So we encourage you to do that. As for making it obligatory, we cannot oblige anyone. Likewise, we cannot listen to everyone recite it. Yes, we can ask everyone to recite it to us, but if we take four or five, it will not be of that benefit. Yes, we read.
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings and bestow favor upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
As for what follows: Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, may Allah have mercy on him, said in his book Bulugh al-Maram: "The Book of Purification: The Chapter on Waters
From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the sea:Sunan Abi Dawud 83Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by the four and Ibn Abi Shaybah, and the wording is his, and Ibn Khuzaymah and al-Tirmidhi authenticated it, and Malik, al-Shafi'i, and Ahmad narrated it.
And from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 67Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by the three and Ahmad authenticated it.
And from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 521Da'if (Darussalam) It was narrated by Ibn Majah and Abu Hatim weakened it, and for al-Bayhaqi: Bulugh al-Maram 4 ".
The first reason is that purification is among the most emphatic conditions of the prayer, as Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows
يا أيّها الذبن آمنوا إذا قمتم إلى الصّلاة فاغسلوا وجوهكم وأيديكم إلى المرافقAllaah, the Exalted, does not accept the prayer of any of you when you are defiled until you performed ablution.
لا يقبل الله صلاة أحدكم إذا أحدث حتّى يتوضّأThe second reason is that purification is a preparation, because it is the cleaning of the place, so it is a preparation. And preparation, as it is said, comes before adornment. Sweep the house first, then lay the carpets second. Clean the vessels of impurity first, then wash them second.
