The ruling on dedicating the reward of reciting the Qur'an to the deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q 329: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on dedicating the reward of reciting the Qur'an and making du'a' for the deceased?
A 329: As for du'a', it is prescribed; one should make du'a' for his father and for other Muslims, both the living and the dead. As for reciting the Qur'an on behalf of another person and dedicating the reward to another; this is something for which no evidence has come, so this action is not done. Rather, you make du'a' for the one you wish to benefit, seek forgiveness for him, and give charity on his behalf.
