The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 14594 )
Q5: A man is traveling in Ramadan and intended to break his fast, but he did not eat. He had a piece of gum with him, which he took and chewed until the midday prayer. He said: “I will complete my fast until sunset and break it at sunset” ? What is the ruling on his fast for that day, and does he have to make it up or not?
A5: If he intended to break his fast or chewed gum, he has broken his fast, and he must make up the day on which he broke his fast. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
