Q: Given that I am going toMakkahI took birth control pills to delay my period from its scheduled time, and since its scheduled time was on 22/9/1420 AH, I took them two weeks prior. On the day of 20/9/1420 AH, a small brown spot appeared, and this spot continued to appear once a day until I stopped
taking the pills on the second day of the festival. I continued fasting Ramadan, and then the actual period came out two days later. My question here is: Is my fasting on the mentioned days of Ramadan valid or not? I fasted about six days after the festival; is this fasting considered making up for Ramadan, or is this drop of no consequence, so that the fasting becomes from the six days of Shawwal? Note: When I performed 'Umrah and intended it from the miqat, I was in a state of purity, and after finishing the 'Umrah, I found that brown drop I mentioned in my question. Is my 'Umrah valid, or did this drop invalidate it for me? Please give us a ruling on this, may Allah reward you a thousand times.

A: If the situation is as described, then your fasting of the month of Ramadan is valid, and this drop of blood has no effect on the validity of acts of worship such as fasting, prayer, and others. Therefore, you are not required to make up the mentioned days of Ramadan. As for your fasting several days after Ramadan with the intention of making up, there is no place for making up because there is no cause for it. If you wish to fast the six days of Shawwal, you must specify them with an intention for that. As for the 'Umrah, it is valid – if Allah wills – and the drop you saw after completing the 'Umrah has no effect; because the original state is purity, and it has not been established for you that it came out before or during the tawaf. We advise you not to use these pills for fear that they may interfere with your worship, such as prayer and fasting, and others.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
