Fatwa number ( 21844 )
Q: A woman entered her menstrual period moments before the tawaf of ifadhah and she is attached to a group or companion and is unable to stay in Makkah . Should she perform tawaf while menstruating or not? Knowing that staying involves hardship and expenses? We ask for your information, supported by a book that is beneficial in this matter, and we thank you greatly. Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
A: It is not permissible for a menstruating woman to perform tawaf around the House; because purity is a condition for the validity of tawaf. Therefore, the woman mentioned must wait until the blood stops
and she must perform ghusl, then perform the tawaf of ifadhah. If she needs to travel because she cannot stay after her group has traveled, she should travel. When she becomes pure, she should come to Makkah and perform the tawaf of ifadhah and sa’y, if she was performing tamattu’, qiran, or ifrad, and had not performed sa’y after the tawaf of arrival. She should perform the farewell tawaf when leaving if she delayed in Makkah after the tawaf of Hajj. Her husband should avoid her until she performs the tawaf of ifadhah and sa’y. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
