Leaving the Tawaf of Ifadah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 15428 )
Q: I performed the obligatory Hajj for the year 1410 AH. Since I am illiterate and cannot read or write, I performed the Hajj rites according to what I heard from people. I entered the state of ihram from the miqat, performed the tawaf, and did the sa'y.
I slept in Mina , and then I prayed Fajr on the following day, the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah. We proceeded to 'Arafah and remained there until the people departed after the sun had set. We then went to Muzdalifah and spent the night of the festival there. We collected pebbles from there, and after praying Fajr on the day of the festival, we went to stone the pillars. I stoned the pillar, shaved my head, and removed my ihram garments, but I did not go to Makkah . On the second day, I stoned the pillars and remained in Mina , and I did not go to Makkah . On the third day, I stoned the pillars and asked one of the shaykhs present in Mina . I told him that I had performed the obligatory Hajj as an individual (ifrad) and asked if I owed a sacrificial animal. He said, "No." I did not ask him about anything else except the farewell tawaf. He said, "Perform the farewell tawaf and leave Makkah ." So I performed the tawaf with the intention of farewell and went to my place of residence. After that, two days ago, I asked one of the brothers who is with me how I had performed the obligatory Hajj. He informed me that there is a tawaf called the Tawaf of Ifadah. One of the shaykhs was asked for me, and the answer was: "Your Hajj in this manner is incomplete and does not suffice for you, nor does a ransom payment, nor fasting, nor charity suffice. Rather, you must repeat the Hajj again." I acknowledge that I did not perform this tawaf, "the Tawaf of Ifadah ," and I ask you to provide me with a prompt response to this fatwa.

A: Your Hajj is valid, but you must come to Makkah as soon as possible, perform the Tawaf of Ifadah that you left, and perform the farewell tawaf.
If you had sexual intercourse with your wife during this period, it is obligatory for you to slaughter a sheep in Makkah and distribute it to the poor present there. If you are unable to slaughter a sheep as a ransom payment, you must fast for ten days. If you did not have sexual intercourse, then you owe nothing except the Tawaf of Ifadah and the farewell tawaf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
