The Ruling on Taking an Omen from the Month of Safar

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q60: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on taking an omen from the month of Safar?
A65: Taking an omen from the month of Safar is forbidden, and it is a belief of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is no ‘Adwa, no omen, no Hamah and no Safar.لا عدوى ولا طيرة ولا هامة ولا صفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 3539
They used to take omens in Safar, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them from doing so. One should not attribute any disliked things, or any beloved things, to time; rather, this is in the hand of Allah—
(Glorified and Exalted is He)—:
Do not curse Time, for it is Allah Who is Time.لا تسبوا الدهر، فإن الله هو الدهر
Sahih Muslim 2246e
And He the Exalted said:
The son of Adam displeases Me by abusing Dahr (time), whereas I am Dahr--I alternate the night and the day.يؤذيني ابن آدم يسب الدهر، وأنا الدهر، أقلب الليل والنهار
Sahih Muslim 2246b
