Superstition regarding months, days, birds, and the like

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 10775 ):
Q: We have heard that there are beliefs that it is not permissible to get married or perform circumcision in the month of Safar, and the like. We ask you to inform us about this according to Islamic law. May Allah preserve you.
A: What was mentioned regarding not getting married or performing circumcision, or the like, in the month of Safar is a type of superstition regarding this month. Superstition regarding months, days, birds, or other animals is not permissible; for what al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is no ‘Adwa, no omen, no Hamah and no Safar.لا عدوى ولا طيرة ولا هامة ولا صفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 3539
. Superstition regarding the month of Safar is of the same kind as the divination (tatayyur) that was prohibited, and it is a practice of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance (jahiliyyah) which Islam has invalidated. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
