The virtue of loving the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and the scholars
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q32: The questioner says: When we read in the books of the scholars, we hear the names of the Companions, the Tabi'un, and those who followed them, as well as the scholars who conveyed the call to Allah, whom we have not seen, and we long for them. If we become among the people of Paradise, will we meet them all in Paradise?
A32: We love them even if we have not seen them and even if we did not live in their time, because they are our brothers in Islam, especially the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and the scholars. Loving the Companions is obligatory, as is loving the Muslims, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 54a He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Sahih al-Bukhari 13 And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hujurat 49:10]
, so they love one another by virtue of their faith.
A32: We love them even if we have not seen them and even if we did not live in their time, because they are our brothers in Islam, especially the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and the scholars. Loving the Companions is obligatory, as is loving the Muslims, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum.
ألا أدلكم على شيء إذا فعلتموه تحاببتم، أفشوا السلام بينكمNone of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.
لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يحب لأخيه ما يحب لنفسهThe believers are but brothers
إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ, so they love one another by virtue of their faith.
