Q: We are employees of one of the villages. We previously carried out a charitable electricity project for our village. The employees of the village at that time were identified, and it was agreed that each of us would pay one month's salary, each according to his position and the salary he receives from his work fund. The amount was collected, and an agreement was reached with one of the companies to install an electricity grid and purchase electric generators. We were also assisted by the state with some generators. The electricity in our village was put into operation for a small fee to ensure the continuity of the electricity. The goal of the charitable electricity project was to light up our village, which is inhabited by our people, and we do not aim for profit or trade. By the grace of Allah, and then by the efforts of our wise government, public electricity services reached our village, and our charitable electricity project was suspended. The available funds in this project were tallied, and the debts owed to the project were also tallied. It was found that the project had a debt of (16,000) sixteen thousand riyals. So we gathered the residents of the neighborhood who benefited from the electricity service and informed them of the situation. We said: whoever has an unpaid meter or bill, let him pay it to cover the debt. It is known that some of the residents had debts to the charitable project that they had not paid. After the debts were settled, it became clear that there was an available amount estimated at (22,464 riyals only). Since the project is charitable and we cannot distribute this amount to those who donated their salary or any other amount, some of whom donated thirty riyals, and knowing that the donors were only the employees at that time, some of whom are

Our question: Is it permissible for us to donate this amount to charitable associations or Chechnya , or to distribute it to the poor of our village or any other party, with the intention that its reward and wage be for all who contributed to the charitable electricity project? May Allah guide you to what is good, and peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings
A : If the situation is as described, that the contributors to the aforementioned electricity project contributed voluntarily with the intention of doing good for the people of the town, not with the intention of profit, then the money obtained from the project after the project is no longer needed is spent in useful charitable causes, and its reward belongs to those who contributed to this project, each according to the extent of his contribution, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
