Opening a restaurant during the daytime of Ramadan for disbelievers and serving them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 17717 )
Q: First: We complain about the company we work for opening its restaurant during the day in Ramadan to prepare lunch for non-Muslim employees. We have explained the many evils and dangers that result from this violation, including that this restaurant is exposed to the entry of weak-hearted Muslims who share food with the disbelievers, as happened last year. The Committee has a file on a case of a Muslim breaking his fast during the day in Ramadan in this restaurant without a valid religious excuse. Second: The Muslim workers in the restaurant have been prevented from praying the midday prayer in congregation at the mosque adjacent to the restaurant, because this time is the lunch period for the disbelievers, so they are occupied with serving lunch to the disbelievers in the restaurant. Third: The difficulty and harm we experience when we pray in the mosque, as this restaurant is adjacent to our mosque and the smell is nauseating. Fourth: All other SABIC companies allow non-Muslim employees to go to their homes to eat their meals, and our company is the only one that opens its restaurant during the day in Ramadan. Fifth: This is a violation of the teachings of our rulers (may Allah preserve them), who have broadcast warnings about this violation in all media. We ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that we find a solution to this problem with your eminence, or at least that we save our Muslim brothers working in this restaurant during the day in Ramadan, and the loss of the midday prayer in congregation that results from it, because it coincides with the lunch time of the disbelievers. May Allah guide you to what He loves and is pleased with.
with the congregation in the mosque adjacent to the restaurant; because this time is the lunch period for the disbelievers, so they are occupied with serving the lunch meal to the disbelievers in the restaurant. Third: the hardship and harm we experience while we are praying in the mosque, since this restaurant is adjacent to our mosque and the smell is nauseating. Fourth: all the other SABIC companies allow non-Muslim employees to go to their homes to eat their meals, and our company is the only one that opens its restaurant during the daytime of Ramadan. Fifth: this is a violation of the teachings of our rulers (may Allah preserve them), and they have broadcast warnings about this violation in all media outlets. We ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that we find a solution to this problem with your eminence, or at least that we free our Muslim brothers working in this restaurant during the daytime of Ramadan, and the loss of the Zuhr prayer with the congregation that results from it; because it coincides with the lunch hour of the disbelievers. May Allah guide you to what He loves and is pleased with.

A: It is not permissible to open the restaurant during the day in Ramadan for disbelievers, nor to serve them in it; because of the great religious dangers involved, such as assisting them in what Allah has forbidden. It is known from the pure Shari'ah that disbelievers are addressed by the fundamentals of the Shari'ah
and its branches, and there is no doubt that fasting Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam, and that it is obligatory for them to do so, along with fulfilling its condition, which is entering into Islam. Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim to assist them in abandoning what Allah has made obligatory upon them, nor is it permissible for him to serve them in a manner that humiliates the Muslim and insults him; such as serving them food and the like. And it is obligatory for the disbelievers coming to the lands of Islam to refrain from engaging in what contradicts the rituals of Islam, harms Muslims, and provokes their feelings; therefore, the aforementioned restaurant in the aforementioned company must be closed during the daytime of the month of Ramadan. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
