Giving Zakah to the Children of a Son and His Wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 15218 )
Q2: My son passed away, leaving behind children and a wife, but he left them nothing
in terms of money or property. So, I housed them next to me in a separate house. I have some Zakah. Is it permissible for me to give them some of the Zakah? If it is not permissible to give it to them, should I give it to their mother, who will then spend it on herself and her children? Please issue a ruling for us; may Allah reward you.
.

A2 : It is not permissible for you to give them from your Zakah, because their maintenance is obligatory upon you, and you must spend on them from your wealth what suffices them, provided you are able to do so. This is because Zakah is not permissible to be distributed to children, nor to their children, nor to fathers and mothers, nor to grandfathers and grandmothers. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
