Zakah for relatives, male and female
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The ninth question from Fatwa number ( 20628 )
Q9: Is it permissible to give zakah to male and female relatives, or should one give to kin without mentioning that it is zakah?
A9 : If your relatives and kin are among those eligible for zakah, and you are not obligated to provide for their financial maintenance, and they are not your children (however distant) or your parents (however close), then it is permissible to give them from the zakah what satisfies their need due to their poverty. In fact, giving it to them is better, because charity to a relative is both charity and maintaining family ties. It is not required that you inform them that it is zakah, as long as you know they are eligible to receive zakah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
