Q: What is your kind advice, O our noble Shaykh, to the young man who is an expatriate in his foreign land? Please inform us, may Allah reward you, and Allah does not waste the reward of a worker.
A: It is obligatory for the young expatriate seeking knowledge to fear Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) in all his affairs, by doing what Allah has commanded and staying away from what Allah has forbidden, so that Allah may facilitate for him what he seeks, ease all his affairs, and protect him from all evil. This includes maintaining the five daily prayers at their times in congregation in the mosques as much as possible, and striving to keep the company of the righteous and those of religion and piety. The young expatriate must stay away from places of evil and locations of wrongdoing
and be cautious about frequenting them, so that his religion remains safe. He must also call people to Allah through word and deed, for the Muslim is a role model for others. We advise you to increase your recitation of the Noble Qur'an with reflection, understanding, and action. May Allah guide you and ease your affairs. Success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
