The place where a resident abroad pays the zakah on behalf of himself and his family

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message from the questioner Ahmad Saleh Zayd from North Yemen, who resides in the city of Hufar al-Batin in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He says in his message: If I am abroad, for example, I am in Saudi Arabia and my family is in Yemen, do I pay the zakah on behalf of myself and my family, or do I pay it only for myself and my family pays it for themselves? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: You have a choice. If you pay the zakah on behalf of yourself and them in the place of your residence abroad, there is no harm; because they are dependent on you and you are responsible for them. So, if you pay it on their behalf, meaning the alms given at the end of Ramadan along with your own, that is sufficient; because you are responsible for them. And if they are accustomed to paying the zakah on their own there, that is also sufficient. If they are accustomed to paying the zakah among their own people and their poor, there is no harm. The principle is that it is obligatory for you to pay it on their behalf. Yes.
