The method of teaching a Muslim who does not know Arabic the matters of his religion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 20920 )
Q4: IfI have relativesin Francewho are coming for the summer vacation, what do you advise us regarding teaching them the religion? For your information, they are Muslims, but they do not speak Arabic well and cannot write it. Should I start with the Arabic language for them and then give them books, or should I teach them tawhid (the oneness of Allah) with its categories, or should I teach them prayer, ritual purity, zakah (the obligatory alms), and fasting? And their vacation does not exceed two months or a month and a half. Please inform us of a method by which we can convey this religion, so that perhaps we may be guides who are guided.
A4: If you are not proficient in teaching them in their language, and you do not have someone who can teach them the matters of their religion in their language, then you should teach them Arabic first, orally and in writing,
to the extent sufficient to teach them the matters of their religion, due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلا وُسْعَهَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
However, this does not prevent you from teaching them ritual purity practically, taking them to the mosque to pray with the congregation, and looking for religious books in their language, especially in the religious ministry or the ministry of education that you have. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
