Q: I have a house in the city of Khamis Mushayt consisting of two apartments, and I have eight daughters and four sons as offspring. I wish to endow this house for my offspring, both male and female, to serve as a residence for those among them who are in need. I purchased it for two hundred and thirty thousand riyals, with a legal deed. I ask for your guidance on what you deem appropriate, may Allah guide you. Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
A: It is permissible for you to endow the house in the manner described. However, if you have no other wealth, it is better for you to retain it and dispose of it during your lifetime according to your interests, and then it will belong to the heirs after you according to the Islamic law of inheritance. This is better for you and for them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
