Shaking hands with an elderly woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q44: If a woman is elderly, is it permissible to shake her hand and be alone with her?
J44:It is not permissible to shake hands with women who are not mahram, nor to be in seclusion with them or to mix with them in work, study, or the like, even if they are old in age and have no desire for men, in order to block the means to harm. And among the indications of the prohibition of seclusion with a woman who is a stranger to a man is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
A man should not be alone with a woman, for Satan is the third among them.لا يخلون رجل بامرأة فإن الشيطان ثالثهما
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 2:94
. It was narrated by the ImamMuslimfrom the hadith of'Umar ibn al-Khattab(may Allah be pleased with him).
But I do not shake hands with women.إني لا أصافح النساء
Sunan Ibn Majah 2874Sahih (Darussalam)
It was narrated byAhmadand Ibn Majah, and al-Bukharial-Bukhariin his Sahih, fromUrwah, fromAisha(may Allah be pleased with her) in her narration of the story of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taking the pledge of allegiance from the women, she said:
by Allah, his hand never touched, any lady during that pledge of allegianceلا والله ما مست يده يد امرأة في المبايعة قط
Sahih al-Bukhari 4891
And among the things indicating the prohibition of free mixing with women who are not relatives of a man
His saying, the Exalted:
And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partitionوَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَاسْأَلُوهُنَّ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ
[Al-Ahzab 33:53]
, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also made a separate door for women to enter the mosque through so that they would not mix with the men. So 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If we had left this door for the women. Na'if said: So Ibn 'Umar did not enter through it until he died.لو تركنا هذا الباب للنساء. قال نافع : فلم يدخل منه ابن عمر حتى مات
. It was narrated by Abu Dawud .
