The ruling on shaking hands with an elderly non-mahram woman
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner, Yusuf Hasan, says: Is it permissible for me to shake hands with an elderly woman? I am thirteen years old. Please advise me on this?
Answer:
You are not permitted to shake hands with women. You are an adolescent now, so do not shake hands with women, even if she is an old woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 2874Sahih (Darussalam) And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Shaking hands carries danger; because it may cause desire and fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), so it is greater than speaking.
So it is obligatory for the man to avoid shaking hands, not with a young woman, and not with an old woman, he does not shake hands. But he speaks to her without shaking hands, if the woman is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) to him.
As for if she is his sister, or his aunt, or his wife, there is nothing wrong with it. But if she is a non-mahram, like his brother's wife, or his cousin's daughter, or one of his neighbors; he speaks to her without shaking hands, with hijab (the covering prescribed for women), and without seclusion.

إني لا أصافح النساءBy Allah, the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never touched the hand of a woman; he only pledged allegiance to them with words.
والله ما مست يد رسول الله يد امرأة قط، ما كان يبايعهن إلا بالكلامSo it is obligatory for the man to avoid shaking hands, not with a young woman, and not with an old woman, he does not shake hands.
