He has a debt to a person who has traveled and nothing is known about him

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q48: If I have a debt to a person, but this person has traveled and I have not known his location for a long time, what should I do with his debt?
It is obligatory for you to search for this person. If you find him, pay him his debt. If he is dead, pay it to his heirs. If you are unable to find him after searching and asking, then give the money in charity on his behalf. When you find him or his heirs later, inform them of what you did. If they approve of it, the reward is theirs. If they demand their right, give it to them, and you will have the reward of the charity.
