Q2: Is it permissible to pay the zakah of wheat or barley in money instead of wheat or barley ?
A2: The zakah of wheat and barley is to be paid out in wheat or barley, unless the owner sells the farm before the harvest and after the grain has hardened, in which case he pays the zakah from the value: half of one-tenth if it is watered at a cost, or one-tenth if it is watered without cost.
