Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. We grow barley and wheat in our country in large quantities, and during the harvest season, people harvest it and take from the harvested crop, sometimes a quarter and sometimes a third. Do we, the owners of the project, have to pay zakah?

The Shaykh : If these workers take the quarter or the third as wages, they do not pay zakah. However, if they are given their wages from the zakah, and they are eligible to receive it, there is no harm.
Furthermore, the obligatory rate for crops is one-tenth of what is irrigated without expense, and half of one-tenth of what is irrigated with expense.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Zakah is due on the entire harvest, yes, because they took it after ... the obligation became due.
