Livestock that its owner feeds for most of the year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16389 )
Q2: We have sheep, and some of the brothers have sheep as well; some have a large number, some a moderate number, and the least have reached the nisab (minimum threshold for zakah). However, they are fed barley and other feeds throughout the year. Does this invalidate the zakah that is due?
A2: There is no zakah on livestock that its owner feeds for most of the year, unless it is kept for sale in order to make a profit. In that case, it is subject to the zakah on trade goods, which is one-quarter of the tenth of its value at the time zakah becomes obligatory, which is the completion of the lunar year. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
