The ruling on the zakah of livestock if they are fed for most of the year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A man has one hundred camels, but he feeds them for most of the year. Is there zakah on them?

A: If the livestock, whether camels, cattle, or sheep, are not grazing for the entire lunar year or most of it, then zakah is not obligatory on them. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made grazing a condition for the obligation of zakah on them. If their owner feeds them for most of the lunar year or half of it, there is no zakah on them, unless they are for trade. In that case, the zakah of trade is obligatory on them, and they become trade goods, like land prepared for sale, cars, and the like, if the value of what he has reaches the nisab of gold and silver, as mentioned previously.
