The pre-prayer sunnah may be performed in the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20196 )
Q1: Is it permissible to perform the pre-prayer sunnah, such as the sunnah of Fajr, at home? And if I do so and hear the iqamah, should I stop the prayer or complete it?
Volume 1: It is preferable to perform the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) and other voluntary prayers at home, based on what is in the authentic collection of Muslim from a long hadith, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "..
So you must observe prayer (optional) in your houses, for the prayer observed by a man in the house is better except an obligatory prayer.فعليكم بالصلاة في بيوتكم فإن خير صلاة المرء في بيته إلا المكتوبة
Sahih Muslim 781a
, but if you fear that you will miss the congregational prayer if you perform the pre-prayer sunnah at home because the time for the iqamah is near, then you should perform it in the mosque. If you begin the regular voluntary prayer and then the iqamah is called, you should cut off the voluntary prayer and make it up after the obligatory prayer, or after the sun has risen in the case of Fajr, based on what is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
When the Iqamah has been called for the Salat then there is no Salat except the obligatory.إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا صلاة إلا المكتوبة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 421Sahih (Darussalam)
, which was narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad and by Imam Muslim in his (Sahih), and it was also narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah and Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i , except if the obligatory prayer is called after the second bowing of the voluntary prayer, in which case you should complete it lightly and not cut it off. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
