Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourteenth question of Fatwa No. ( 6259 )
Q14: Is it better to perform the Sunnah and voluntary prayers—such as the Shaf' and Witr—at home or in the mosque?
A14: It is stated in (Sahih Muslim) in a long hadith, where he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
So you must observe prayer (optional) in your houses, for the prayer observed by a man in the house is better except an obligatory prayer.فعليكم بالصلاة في بيوتكم، فإن خير صلاة المرء في بيته إلا المكتوبة
Sahih Muslim 781a
, and the hadith:
The best prayer of a man is in his home, except for the obligatory prayer.خير صلاة الرجل في بيته إلا المكتوبة
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
