The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 19659 )
Q4: First: I pray, but I often forget to raise my hands to the level of my shoulders before bowing and after rising from it when I intend to prostrate. What is obligatory for me? Second: If a person prays the night prayer, is he obligated to do so every day , even if he is tired or unable to stand due to heavy sleep, or if he is lazy and cannot perform the full ritual bath at that time because he wants to sleep? Answer us, and may Allah reward you with good for us?
A4: First: If a worshipper forgets something of the recommended practices of the prayer, there is no sin on him and his prayer is valid. Second: The night prayer is a confirmed recommended practice (sunnah muakkadah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not leave it, whether present or traveling, healthy or sick. However, if someone misses the night prayer due to overwhelming sleep, illness, forgetfulness, or the like, it is prescribed for him to make up his witr prayer during the day in pairs, from the rising of the sun until midday. This is based on what is established from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:, narrated by Muslim in his (Sahih). He usually performed witr with eleven rak'ahs, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, saying the closing salam after every two rak'ahs and performing witr with one.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
