The third question of the fatwa number ( 20795 )
Q3: Is it permissible for the imam to stand for the tarawih prayer while there is a congregation praying the 'Isha' prayer as a second group ?
A3: There is no harm in the imam standing for the tarawih prayer after completing the 'Isha' prayer and its regular voluntary prayers, even if there is a congregation praying; because they missed the 'Isha' prayer with the imam, and they may pray with the imam who
is praying the tarawih, intending to pray 'Isha'. When he concludes the prayer, they stand and complete it for themselves, or they may pray as a congregation by themselves in a place where there is no disturbance for them or for the imam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
