If a woman menstruates before she prays the witr, does she make up the witr after her period ends?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19211 )
Q1: A woman prayed the 'Isha' prayer and did not pray the witr, intending to stand in prayer for part of the night, but she began menstruating in the last third of the night. Does she make up the witr she left, or not? Knowing that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never left the two sunnahs of Fajr and the witr, neither in residence nor in travel?
A1: Among the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is that if he missed the witr of the night due to illness or sleep, he would make it up during the day before the sun reaches its zenith, in an even number of rak'ahs. If a person delays making up the witr
until after that time, it is not prescribed for him to make up what he missed. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
