Raising the Hands in Supplication During Qunut

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second and fourth questions of Fatwa No. ( 17972 )
Q2: It has been reported that the supplication in the Witr prayer is: “O Allah, guide me among those You have guided…” etc. Do the hands need to be raised during this supplication or not? What is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? May Allah reward you with good?
A2: Raising the hands during supplication in the Qunut and other supplications is a recommended practice (sunnah) established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), except where evidence indicates that the hands are not raised, such as after the five daily prayers. In these cases, the hands are not raised during the supplication after the prayer, either before or after the closing salam. Likewise, in the Friday and festival sermons, the preacher does not raise his hands when making supplication in them; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his hands in them except when seeking rain, in which case he would raise his hands in the supplication for rain. Likewise, the follower raises his hands when the imam raises his hands in the supplication for rain.
