Melodizing Supplication in the Qunut

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 21263 )
Q1: We have an imam whom Allah the Exalted has blessed with memorizing His Noble Book and a beautiful voice, and for this reason, many people strive to pray behind him. However, we have noticed certain things in his witr prayer during the night prayers of Ramadan that we would like to present to you to know the Islamic ruling on them, which are: that he melodizes the supplication and supplicates with a voice similar to his voice when reciting the Qur'an. Also, most of his supplication is rhymed, and he prolongs the supplication to a noticeable extent, where the time of supplication reaches half an hour or more, or slightly less. When he was addressed about this, he excused himself by saying that these are noble nights, the last ten nights of Ramadan, and that some of the sick and those who have been afflicted with calamities ask him to supplicate for them, hoping for
acceptance by Allah the Exalted?

A1: It is prescribed for the one who supplicates to avoid rhyming in supplication and not to strain himself in it, and that his state during supplication should be one of humility and submission, displaying need and dependence upon Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), for this is more conducive to the acceptance of the supplication and closer to having the supplication heard. The one who supplicates should also not make the supplication resemble the Qur'an by adhering to the rules of tajwid and singing with the Qur'an, for that is not known from the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor from the guidance of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). The one who supplicates should also not prolong the prayer to the point of causing hardship for the followers, but rather he should lighten it and strive for concise supplications, leaving out what is beyond that, as indicated by the Sunnah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
