The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 18647 )
Q4: We prayed the midday prayer in congregation at the school, and at the takbir for bowing in the second rak'ah I prostrated instead of bowing, while the rest of the worshippers were bowing , and when I realized that, I raised myself from prostration and performed the bowing, and when
I began my bowing, the followers had already risen from it, and I completed my prayer with them. When I finished the prayer, I discussed it with some of my colleagues, and they advised me to repeat it and offered to pray with me again. Is what we did correct? May Allah protect you?
A4: What you did, which was performing the bowing that you replaced with prostration due to a mistake on your part, and then catching up with the imam, is a valid action, and it is what is obligatory for you in this case. There is no basis for repeating the prayer, because your prayer is valid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
