Counting the rak'ah in which one entered the prayer while the imam was bowing, and bowing with him

Q2: We see many people racing the imam in bowing, standing up, and prostrating, either moving with the imam's movement or preceding him. Is their prayer in this case permissible or not?
A2: It is obligatory for the ma'mum (one praying behind the imam) to follow his imam in bowing, prostrating, standing up, and rising from them. He must not bow, prostrate, or rise from them except after his imam. This is based on the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to do so and his prohibition of preceding the imam or accompanying him in any of these actions. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 1238Sahih (Darussalam) ... This hadith is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Thus, the ma'mum is commanded to perform these actions after the imam has performed them, because the particle "fa" (then)
indicates sequence. He also said:Riyad as-Salihin 1751 agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Therefore, whoever bows, prostrates, or rises from them before the imam or with him has contradicted the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and exposed himself to punishment and deprivation of reward, if he was mindful and aware of the ruling. His prayer is invalid, and it is obligatory for him to repeat it, as narrated from Ibn 'Umar , and the imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal held this view. If he preceded his imam while in a state of forgetfulness or was ignorant of the ruling, his prayer is valid. The ignorant person should learn the ruling, and the forgetful person should return to his imam when he remembers, in consideration of the obligation of following him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

He also said:
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Does he who raises up his head before the Imam not fear that Allah will make his head that of a donkey or make his appearance similar to that of donkey?" [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] .
