Catching the bowing: Does it count as catching the unit of prayer or not?

Fatwa number ( 16765 )
Q: If one catches the bowing, does he count as having caught the unit of prayer or not? And if he has caught the unit of prayer by catching the bowing, what is the ruling regarding the opening takbir and the recitation of al-Fatihah, which are two pillars of the prayer? Are they dropped for him?
A: If one catches the bowing, he says the opening takbir while standing, then he bows with the imam. It is recommended for him in this case to say the takbir for bowing. If he bows before the imam raises his head, he has caught the unit of prayer, and the recitation of al-Fatihah is dropped for him in this case. This is because Abu Bakrah caught the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) bowing, and he bowed with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order him to make up that unit of prayer, which indicates that he had caught it, and that the recitation of al-Fatihah is dropped for him in this case. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
